January projects

So, I know it is the end of January and I still have Christmas pictures on my blog. I do not know where January went, but I did do two fun craft projects this month! Very simple ones ( I am slowly easing my way back into the craft thing!).

I made this garland from hats and gloves. Yes I did have this many gloves without a mate in my hat and glove drawer! And yes some of them are way to small for my big boys hands. So the drawer got a cleaning out and I got this cute garland.

The middle hat was sent to Hannah when the in laws were in Sweden. I have wanted to make one of these for a while and finally did and love it.

My second project involved styrofoam balls. I painted them and put faces on them and here they are. I know. I gave some to my friend Carol and she said, "You brought me snowman heads in a bag?" But when we put them in the glass container I knew she had they looked very cute.

I put mine in this jar I kept putting white yogurt covered pretzels in for a winter time decor but they kept getting eaten!! No one has tried to eat my snowman heads!

And I put them in the blue colander.

And here they are all together with some of my blue stuff I put out for January decor. I love them and one of the best things about both these projects.....they cost me nothing. I already had all the stuff just lieing (is that right) around. Yay!! (I have to admit I did not think these cuties up all by myself, I saw them on a blog while blog hopping.)

This is what I have scattered all over my table for my Feb project!! Saw this on a blog also and am excited to make some.

I am also making garlands for Feb and Mar with some old cookie cutters. Love these. Millie

Yes we were having too much fun!! Millie

Some of my favorite pictures and some I don't know why they were taken.

Charlie is always up for a picture!! He is one cute kid.

Four generations: Great Grandma Julie, Grandma (or grammie as the girls call her) Cindi, Arlee and Raelynn and Ainzlee (a little scary with those eyes!).

I do not understand why a picture was taken of the pop.

Not sure what Rob is trying to show us here! Nice.

Renny? Or maybe Ike?

Paul really enjoying himself.

Not sure what Corey is looking for. You may recognize Stu and his little pink blankie in the background.

Two of my boys and I am sure the ones with the camera taking these pictures!

Raelynn swinging between the tables. It took 4 shots to get this because someone kept walking in front of the camera!

I love this picture!! Ike is so retro! Millie

Things I love about this picture.

1. My dad in the background. Who knows what he is doing or who he is talking to.
2. That Stu is holding a little pink blanket.
3. How freakishly tall Stu looks talking to my impishly short mom!!!

The families!!

At the big 50 for the padres we took pictures of each of the families. They started out in order but I don't know what happened!! Here they are:

Ike (ya doesn't he look like a younger Frank?) with Charlie, Chase and Laney.

Renny with Autumn, Katie, Corey, and Ethan. (Adam was not there.)
Courtney and Kurt (with Raelynn under the table in the back!) and yes Kurt is quite the character. How could a child of Courtney's not be!

Lorna with Tieghan and Jesse.

Orey with wife Peggy, OJ (also known as Orey now) with his wife Justine and Tommy. (Jesse was not there.)

Cindi with Paul and Caleb. Arlee with Stu and Raelynn and Ainzlee. The paper plates represent Derek and Steph and Elder Ben serving in SLC.

And of course us! Millie and Rob with Sam, David, Isaac and Luke. Hannah was stuck in SLC because her flight had been cancelled!!

And us how you all know and love us!! Millie

What the heck?

Where do pictures like this come from? I can not even tell you whose eye it is!! But I always seem to have one amongst my pictures when I put them on the computer. This one just happens to be a little more disturbing than a shoe or the floor! Millie

All done!!

Just one more Christmas picture!! My friend Natasha over at word up vinyl had a give away. When I signed up I did not know at first that it was my friend Natasha. I did not win the give away (the first one I have ever signed up for) but one day when the cubs and the achievement day girls went caroling together she brought me this sign. I love the subway art. This is the only piece I own but I love it!! Moved this one around a few times before it found its home on the front porch with my goodwill Santa (whom I love!). And now it is all put away!! Yes every bit of my Christmas stuff is put away in the little cubby where it goes for another year. Every thing looks a little bare because I have not gotten out my snowmen yet! But I am kind of liking the bare look which for me is really not that bare because I have way to much stuff! Millie

New Year's Eve

So, this was our New Year's Eve! Everyone but Sam had some kind of sickness, strep, ear infection, sinus infection, chest cold or head aches. So we kept it quiet at home. We put up a puzzle and played Wii (thanks Far Mor) and waited for midnight. Then we drank sparkling cider and went to bed!

That was our exciting New Year's Eve celebration! Antibiotics, cough medicine, lots of ibuprohen and sparkling cider!! Wow! Millie

Christmas morning 2010

So, Christmas morning we all gather around the table for our traditional Christmas morning breakfast, yulacaca (sound it out) and hot chocolate (homemade of course).

We use the cups we made for everyone and the visitor always gets Far Far's cup. This year it was Shirley. (not pictured here!)

We put 11 of us around the table. Mom and Shirley made the bread and it was very good.

Then we gather in the living room for the present opening. Here are Jeff and Carol and Shirley waiting for the festivities to begin.

It starts out very civilized and with little mess!! Sam got to hand out the gifts this year. None of the gifts had names on them. Everyone had their own paper and did not know until that morning who had which paper!! Of course Hannah and David spent over an hour one night feeling and shaking every present and had pretty much figures out which paper went to who!

Then it looks like this! Paper and gifts every where. We were glad mom was feeling up to being with us.

Sam was not too excited about the luggage!! But was excited about his new scriptures. He had a pre mission kind of Christmas! Millie

Christmas Eve at the Henriksons (a little late I know)

On Christmas Eve we stay home. We invite anyone who wants to come over to join us. We always have a potato bar. Then we all participate in the nativity drama. We draw to see what part we will play. This year I was the narrator (score!).

Rob and his mom were our shepherds. Here they are listening to the glad tidings brought to them by the angel.

Here we have the angel (Shirley), Joseph (Isaac), Mary (Sheila), and the shepherds and their sheep (Luke). And the baby lying in a manger!

Of course we had our three wise guys, I mean men! David, Jeff and Sam. Not pictured were Hannah the inn keeper, Owen our videographer, Carol the picture taker and me the reader.

Afterwards we watch our show! Then we watched past shows and even some of the kids on past Christmas mornings.

Some people are more excited then others!

After the nativity we all gather to put candles on the tree. This is always a little nerve wracking for Rob (and Owen).

This is how Rob sees the tree!! The flames are not that big!

This is how it actually looks. We turn off the lights and sing Silent Night. It is a nice peaceful way to end the evening.

Then the kids open their Christmas eve gifts....surprise, new pjs!! Now they are ready for bed and waiting for the big guy to come! Millie
