You never know what you will get!

Sam was in charge of taking the pictures at Luke's birthday party. It is always interesting to see what will end up on the camera! Sam loves these shoes. I must say I am pretty proud of them. I got them at Good Will for $7.99 and then they were a green tag which was half off that week making them $3.99, which I must say is a really good price for a perfect pair of white converse shoes that your 18 year old loves and wears all the time! I love a good buy that they also love! It does not always happen that way but when it does it feels sooo gooood! Millie

How did my baby get so big?

Luke has turned 8!! So we got together and barbecued and ate cake!! Of course we had to give out some presents too!

And if you are Luke then you have got to get Legos and preferably Star Wars legos!!

And you have to get some hot wheel cars cause you love them lots.

Here are Sheila and Owen looking on as he opens his gift that was 4 gifts in one including a slinky, they never go out of style! And yes it only took a few minutes to get it into a tangle which Sam was able to get out! He was amazed with how it could go down the stairs. You all remember your own slinky experiences.

Holding up the wolf cub scout book. Luke is super excited about being a cub scout. He has already been on a hike and is attending cub camp this week!! I get to go up Friday!! Yay!

Scored big with this art set from Far Mor. Luke loves to draw and paint and all things arty.

Yes this is a Last Air Bender t-shirt. Luke liked the movie. He is only eight and likes all movies that show martial arts and fighting! So give him a little slack.

And of course the cub scout shirt. He was wondering where all the badges were and when was he going to be getting them. We had to explain that it is a three year processes.

This years cake was a dirt with worms cake. (His brothers let us know he had worms on his cake last year, so we added the dirt. Okay so he likes one kind, big deal. )

Sheila was also celebrating a birthday. Far Mor made her a sugarless cake. We made her take it home with her!

Happy Birthday Luke!! The baby of the family is growing up way to fast. Millie

Everyone is home!!

Yes we have them all home for a short while. Hannah got home last night and will be here until Sept and then head back to BYU-I. Isaac and David are back from scout camp and high adventure. I miss my kids when they are gone. I feel like a part of me is missing and I can't seem to find it. I know it won't be for long and that eventually they will all leave me, so I am going to enjoy having them here while I can. Millie

Old Home Week!

While we were in Weiser we drove the kids around and showed them places I lived and went to when I lived in Weiser. This is the Jr. High as it looks now. It was a big old building when I moved back from Alaska when I was in the 7th grade.

This is the house on Liberty where we lived before we moved to Alaska and where we lived after we moved back from Alaska. I spent one summer sitting on this porch tanning my legs and reading Harlequin romances!! Cindi and I also use to keep on eye on the boys from California...

who came each summer to visit their grandma who lived on the corner in this house!! Of course we did not let on to them that we were watching!! We were too busy tanning and reading! But we always hid behind sunglasses!

This is the house we lived in on 2nd. My grandfather Doc came and helped to build on the addition and the porch. You can just see in the corner part of the rock garden my father put in.

This is where my Dad's grocery store was on Main Street. I use to work here bagging groceries and stocking the shelves.

This is the Star movie theater. We would go down on Friday or Saturday nights to see whatever movie was popular at the time.

This is a view of Main Street. We use to drag main every time we left the house without our parents in the car!! We only lived a few minutes from the grocery store but it always took at least 30 to 45 minutes to go any where!!

This is the building out side of Weiser that use to be the home of KWEI 1260 on your country dial where I worked as a DJ the summer before my mission. I would buy this building if I had the money and do something fun with it.

This is another building I would buy if I had the money. It is the Galloway mansion and now a bed and breakfast. I think it would be so fun to be able to buy it and run the bed and breakfast. Both buildings are for sale and have been the last to years we have been down for the contest.
Oh well, one can dream!! Millie

Chocolate peanut butter cup cake....Yum!

I saw this recipe on a blog and made a copy of it. It sat in the drawer with the other recipes I have thought I would make for a few weeks and then an occasion came when I thought I am going to make that cake.

It has peanut butter cups in the cake and then on the frosting as well. And I must say, it was delicious. We took it to a 4th of July barbecue and brought only a little slice home.

My kitchen was kind of a mess afterwards!! It takes a few dishes to put it all together. But I must say it was well worth the work and the mess. Millie

THE EISENHAUER FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA 2010

So, this year, once again, the fourth of July would not be complete without fireworks at mom and dad's. This year there were over 250 people there. And Renny put on an excellent show. The fireworks went on for nearly 20 minutes (if you don't think that is very long you have to know that is 20 minutes non stop. No gaps, no time without fireworks going off. And they are put in special order. Renny labels them each with a number and they are done in order and usually more than one at a time.) and were the best we have ever had.

Of course there was lots of food. Julie is in charge of this. She puts on quite a spread and the line of people went down the driveway and around the corner.

Frank works the crowd and gets everything in order. Lorna can be found helping out where ever she is needed.

This year Kaylynn came with us. If she will still go out with Sam after seeing his family in action, then she must like him!!

Ike scoping out the crowd. He too can be found everywhere doing everything.

Lorna and Renny handing out the kid fireworks before the big show. They let the kids play around and do fireworks for about an hour.

And before it all begins we all gather in the kitchen and have a family prayer. Just family.

Our group ready for the show. We got there earlier than usual this year and got good seats!

Teaghan!! She has gotten so cute. A little Lorna!

Peggy (Orey had to work) with Jessie and Lanie (Ike's little girl). Lanie does not like the loud noises and comes prepared!

Courtney and Mike with Renny and Katie and Kurt (Courtney's boy) in front.

Dad and Ike after the show!! Does Ike look familiar? Maybe Frank 30 years ago?

Frank and Julie after a very successful evening!! Thanks mom and dad for good food and a good show!! We love you!! Millie

This ones for you Cindi!! People who are still coming to fiddle festival!!

You know him, you love him....Duck man!!

Yes, Grandma Hippie is still alive and at the contest. (You should have seen me trying to get a picture of her!! Hannah finally got one where you could tell who it was! I would not make a good paparazzi!)

And these guys. Remember how cute we use to think they were! I tried to get Darren Meeks too but he won the accompianist who was on stage the most and I think he was out spending his money on beer! Do you remember how we use to collect their broken guitar strings and make jewelry to hang on our badges!! What silly girls. Do we look as old as these guys? I like to think not!! Missed ya sis! Millie

More pictures from fiddle week...

In the mornings Rob and Isaac were at the school working and Luke and I hung out at the trailer. Luke did a lot of drawing and playing. I worked on the afghan I am making for Hannah. It is going to be beeauuteeful. It looks like rainbow sherbert!! I just hope I can find the yarn to finish it!! I bought all they had before I left and it is not done yet.

Isaac hanging at the trailer!!

Rob hanging at the trailer!! It must be dinner time cause that and sleeping time are the only times Rob is at the trailer!! They keep him busy.

The kids on the way to the movies on Friday.

Waiting for the movie to start. We saw Toy Story III and I would highly recommend it to every one!! It was sooooo good. (And yes I did cry at one point, but so did Hannah and Rob!!)

This is the movie Isaac and Luke want to see now. And I mean now like tomorrow!! We will see.

Sam and Dave are sure it is not going to be any good compared to the cartoons. We shall see. We are kind of big avatar fans. We have seen them all (except for Rob).

Luke and Isaac watching their gumballs come out.

We had lunch at Idaho pizza. It was very good. We just had to wait a long time for our pizza.

Luke entertained himself playing with the local wildlife!!

Rob and Frank relaxing after the Friday night show. One more day to go and they get to sleep in on Saturday morning before breakfast at McDonalds and the parade!!

Hannah and Grandpa!! This is one of my favorite pictures of the week.

The ladies at the parade!!

The boys and grandpa. Another favorite picture from the week.

And last but not least the ride home on Sunday. This is how we all feel after a fun filled week in Weiser and the Fiddle contest!! Millie
